About the Competition

The Lee Kuan Yew Global Business Plan Competition (LKYGBPC) is a prestigious international startup challenge that takes place every two years in Singapore. Named after Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, the competition seeks to inspire innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among university students worldwide. It is organized by the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) at Singapore Management University (SMU), and serves as a global platform for young entrepreneurs to present breakthrough business ideas that tackle real-world problems.

A Global Stage for Innovation

LKYGBPC brings together the brightest minds from leading universities across the globe. Finalists pitch their business plans to panels of renowned investors, industry leaders, and academics. Beyond competing for prizes, participants gain valuable exposure, mentorship opportunities, and access to a vibrant network of entrepreneurs and investors. The competition emphasizes not only innovation but also sustainability, scalability, and societal impact.

Strategic Partnership with YIT

In the 11th edition of the competition, YIT played a significant role by becoming a key partner. As part of this collaboration, YIT established the YIT Haina Innovation Prize, offering an impressive award package worth S$200,000. This prize supports outstanding innovations with the potential to create meaningful global change, further reinforcing the competition’s mission to drive entrepreneurial excellence and impactful innovation.
