About the Institute

On December 31st, 2003, the Zhejiang Province and Tsinghua University, in the celebration of a strong synergy forged, co-founded the Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang (YIT). Against the backdrop of the Regional Planning policy for the Yangtze Delta Region and backed by technologies and great minds from Tsinghua university, YIT grew increasingly involved in technological innovations and services, technological commercialization, industrial upgrading, international cooperation, and talent development. YIT has built a global 'offshore incubation network,' to aract high-level innovation projects and establish a closed-loop channel for project incubation, cultivation, landing, and development. The goal is to fully integrate global innovation resources, actively promote inter-institutional cooperation, create an international innovation ecosystem, and leverage the value of the institute as a public research platform. Throughout the operations, YIT bears in mind the commitment to advancing, both scientifically and harmoniously, the economic development of the Yangtze Delta Region.

Operation Model

The Big Dipper Model is a comprehensive "Seven in One" operation framework that integrates key areas to drive innovation and development. It focuses on Investment, covering Research, Investment, and Industry to foster growth and collaboration. The Intermediary component facilitates the Application of research and resources. Additionally, the model bridges Academic research with Government initiatives to ensure impactful outcomes. This structured approach creates synergy across sectors, aligning investment, research, and policy for transformative results.
